Six senior Event Management Certificate students networked and learned about industry trends when they attended the IMEX conference in Las Vegas this fall. 

Participating students were Ryan Bys, Abby Feldmann, Grace Johnson, Kristen Schlawin, Riley Schuchard, and Payton Spindler. 

In addition to the conference, which includes a track just for event management students, the group met with event professionals at Allegiant Stadium and event design firm By Dzign. 

 

In a LinkedIn post after the trip, Byz described the trip as an “incredible experience.” 

 

“I was able to learn about different event companies, services, and products, while meeting the amazing people that make the industry turn,” he wrote. 

 

The IMEX conference trip is an annual capstone opportunity that senior certificate students are selected to experience through an application process. The trip was made possible this year through generous support from the University of Iowa School of Journalism and an individual donor.
