Earlier last year, the Event Management Certificate partnered with Meetings Today to give our students the opportunity to experience high-end business events in diverse cities across North America. Meetings today is a program committed to providing in-depth information about "the essential destination, logistics, career, and strategic" factors that contribute to planning gatherings as small as meetings, as large as conventions, or anything in-between.

With a focus on "people and places," they produce webinars, magazines, newsletters, handbooks, and host events to update and inform their audience on the ever-changing landscape of event management. Within the past year, four of our students and graduates have attended theses adventures, each traveling to different cities to study unique events. 

As a senior in the spring of 2024, Lexi Rudolph went to Orlando with Meetings Today. Lexi gushed about her trip, saying, "Meetings Today was a wonderful experience! I truly learned so much, networked with amazing event professionals, and had so many amazing shadowing opportunities." 

Also a graduate in the spring of 2024, Anna Cataldo attended a Meetings Today session in San Antonio where she focused on "talking with people from all around the country, hearing their experiences and advice for my future to come." Anna further emphasized that this trip taught her to "always take chances and go outside of your comfort zone."

Other members of the Event Management Certificate who have been involved with Meetings Today include Lorelei Bahl, who graduated from the University of Iowa in Spring 2024 and attended an event in the Bahamas. Lucie Brennan, who graduated from the University of Iowa in December 2024, joined Meetings Today in Boise, Idaho.
